Question:

Hi!  Thanks to everyone for being so accepting and and BIG THANK YOU to Tanya for being so supportive.  I  have been out ot town for  a while but before going found out from the doc that all my blood tests were negative for the Hep a, b and c from the rape!!!!! Praise the Lord.   He wants me to give the clonzapam alittle more time to work so I’m gonna stay on them for now.  He thinks that so many years of  being on xanax and then changing may take some time for my body to adjust.  He’s not my reg doc. She’s out of town and I can’t wait for her to get back. Anyway, thanks for being here guys.  I really don’t have anyone to talk to that understands. Peace, Sherryl

Hi Sherryl, didn’t read your previous post so don’t know the full story. When I first started medication it was on Xanax and my doctor switched me to clonazepam. It took a while for me to get used to it and I hadn’t been on Xanax for that long. It has helped reduce my anxiety as it stays in my system longer but YMMV. Vanessa

Response:

Hey there Sherryl, I was on Xanax for a lonnnnng time, and was switched to Klonopin because I became habituated to the Xanax, so it lost its’ effectiveness. It was hell, changing, since I had been on Xanax for so long….but like Vanessa, I’m much better off now because the half-life of Klonopin is about 30 hrs. as opposed to Xanax’s 4 hrs. or so. There are many people who can take Xanax and never get habituated, and never need an increase in dose. I just didn’t happen to be one of them. Geeesh, I can relate to you on the hepatitis scare. I had a "lover" who did something to me that I didn’t agree with, and it was unprotected. I guess I’ve never been able to actually call it rape. I threw him out, and never saw him again, but then started worrying about HIV and hepatitis. I had no idea that hepatitis, I can’t remember which one, is incurable. My shrink was much more responsible than my regular doctor, and called her and actually bitched her out because she hadn’t taken the prophylactic measures that they can take. (a med that you can give the next day if someone fears contact with HIV) I didn’t have hepatitis, but I sweated out the tests for HIV for a year, and it felt like I had this possible death sentence hanging over my head. I was very depressed. I never contracted it, so I can imagine how happy you are to find out that you’re not infected. I’m very, very happy for you. Take care, Sharon

i wasn’t aware of that situation. now that’s a tough one.  and congrats on your tests !   waiting on those test results are murder, i’m tested every 6 months and have been for 16 years due to my business, and i still stress out.. and no phone results, ya gotta go in there now… which  is even MORE frustrating. Dentist Update

Question:

I finally got in touch with my daughter to ask questions on Hep c and treatment.  She stated that most people are not aware they have Hep or any other communicable disease.  It is a courtesy to let the Dr. know but not necessary.  In some instances by letting the Dr. know treatment could be different for the patients health.  The dentists are trained to take proper precautions with ALL patients.  She runs tests on her equipment and the test strips are sent to the local university to make sure that all of her equipment is properly sterilized.  Dentist may not charge anything more than what they charge non hep clients.  To do so is opening themselves to a discrimination law suit.  Refusing treatment is a no no as well and you can sue.  This is true in Canada and the USA. Viramidine May Help with Anemia

Question:

I suppose it is.

Response:

That’s good news, no?

Response:

My doctore in the NM283 Valopicitabine trial   just finished a Viramidine trial. He said they were getting no side effects from the viramidine. NM283 has side effect of naseau in about 10% of the people. Small  women especially dont tolerate NM283 well

Response:

Been following on this one as well… The novel pro-drug viramidine could result in lower incidence of anemia than ribavirin with comparable efficacy in patients with hepatitis C, when used in interferon-combination regimens, according to a phase 2 study. Anemia is a common adverse effect of ribavirin-interferon therapy that emerges as a dose-limiting toxicity in approximately one quarter of patients, according to researchers who presented the findings here on December 13th at the Frontiers in Drug Development for Viral Hepatitis HEP DART 2005 meeting. http://www.docguide.com/news/content.nsf/news/8525697700573E18852570D…

It’s just God’s way of saying, "I’m still walking with you my son" All can happen with the lord. I was so surprised when God spoke to me and said, "Bobby, ya know if you tell them folks in the hep c group that it’s your birthday, some of them will wish you a happy birthday. Then he said, "I’ve sent you down there to give you the power to type and send this message….."God said unto the heppers, if ya can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen"…And many folks went hungry. Brian…Happy birthday. Please read and re-read the above, You would actually quit, then change your mind, then quit and maybe change your mind again because of words??? I have been told more than 3 times by very good docs, that I had various death dates that were certain to happen. I got my priority’s straight and decided I wasn’t gonna listen, nor die…And I haven’t…As soon as I start playing hopscotch, I’ll be a goner. Ya think I’m in some kinda hepatatic bliss when I do a post and point out the distress I’m in and Say angrily "I’m glad I’m a fuckin’ Christian, then qoute Tom Waits tune, Devil in the hole and get back 3 supportive responses and 200 bitter arguments over relgion? Then to cap to it off, you say your gonna quit the group which is basicly in responce to my post? I really don’t know you, I knew a guy named Bri-Kid…We used to have lots of laughs here and back at webtv, 6 or seven years ago. I purposely wrote the above to discover that long awaited answer to the question…Is you is or is you ain’t? Whatever way it is you need to know I felt responcible for you quiting when you did. If I hadn’t written that post….well..At 49, I was pretty much grounded and set in ways…Hope you grow into your shoes. And stop blaming. It takes a lot of thought to form the words, turn on the computer, get to the board and write. At any point YOU can make the choice to play games with someones head or not…I made mine today. Hope ya get better, and don’t take it out on the family Bobby

Are you saying that being 49 has something to do with over reacting? Well, I’m 49 and I disagree, so there! :) Hey, all you did was think about leaving a support group, its not like you tried to run people off overpasses with your SUV (That was my riba rage). Glad you decided not to leave. Dwight

Question:

Since I’m here…I use to belong to a Rock n roll discussion board…Marah is their name. Elmo has some tapes I sent him years ago. I did some promo stuff for them in their begginings, they are based in Philly. An alt country band, they coverd a lot of musical territory using banjos where there should be strats, accourdians and music boxes, lap steel guitars, "Slo Mo’" the Duanne Alman of the band. It all came together well enough for them to tour and open for Steve Earle and The Stones. Extremly DIVERSE. The postings on the board had little to do with music. My last post was on the death penalty which evolved into abortion, Kerry, Bush, and Rumsfield…Almost mathmaticly correct. Some snot nose son of a yuppie, got into an accusational one sided debate with me about how I was talking down to him since I had 25 years on him. Not true, just that I was taking a very liberal stance on the discussion. Well, I had been writing to that board for 5 years, two short of my time here and I just said, sorry kid, you win, and quit. The board has changed now. The board is for music, the blog area is for discusion, and sex drugs and politics have little voice, (in a world of rock and roll, thats death) My literary skills are flawed. If I ever come across in any kind of uppity manner, please politly call me on it. I truly from my heart don’t care if your Catholic, Protestant (Catholic lite) Jewish, agnostic, whatever. Gay, black or white….even Canadian…I’d go the mile for all of you and have hopes some day of some kinda hep fest, always thought I could do it at my old house, saylavee, theres goes the show ya never can tell…..To all who were kind enough to get into the secular  frey, thanks, and although I know It strikes your hearts too, Ya all need to see me in action, I can still step up to the plate. They will scream at you, and berate you for your beliefs only because they do not share them. They will not attempt to discuss them in an honest dialog, but will instead attack you personally for your beliefs. As you know, that takes little effort and even less thought. That one little argument lasts for months on end. With no resolution because their can’t be one. No one gets helped. It scares away the newbie’s that need to be here. And gives this board a bad rep. I’ve turned many people onto this board over the years and most have ended up telling me that they unsubscribed due to the petty bickering and war of words brought on by that one little argument. Even my doctor told me to stop recommending this place to her patients because of this. The people that come here need help with itches, aches and pains related to treatment of hep-c. HELP! Question on ALP & Hep C "relapse". . .

Question:

Hello, I was here back in 2000 when I was first diagnosed with Hep C – I did the recommended full year combo treatment (Rebetron & Interferon) and I had been in remission since the end of treatment. Well, my GP found my alkaline phosphatase (ALP) level was very high, so she took another blood test to make sure it wasn’t a mistake, of something.  I went back to the Dr’s today because my stomach has been KILLING me with acid reflux (I think it is acid reflux – I have a positive diagnosis of acid reflux, but since my ALP’s are messed up, the acid could be coming from my liver. What I am wondering if anyone else was in remission have this same thing happen to them?  Did anyone else relapse and found out due to this test?  What are the odds I am going to relapse? I have to make an appointment with my liver doc and he’ll get all the info from my PC doc, but, being the good East Coaster I am, I don’t wanna wait – I wanna know NOW! In case it matters, I am a genotype 1A – Any help is greatly appreciated! — Christi Art Without Anxiety www.ArtWithoutAnxiety.com >^,,^<         >^,,^<         >^,,^<         >^,,^<

I seriously doubt that you’ve relapsed if you’ve been ‘undetectable’ for several years.  Did you have 6 month and 2 year pcr’s drawn?  Your primary care doc could order that test for you now so that you don’t have to wait for the appt with a GI doc.   elmo http://community.webtv.net/elmoemerson/DocElmosHepFile http://community.webtv.net/elmoemerson/TheFamilyAlbum

Christi, the odds of relapsing are said to be very small.  But since it is possible you might want to get tested so you will know for sure. The high AFP could be a sign of gallstones which are very common or other things.   Don
