my opinion has nothing to do with his work. it is the level of popularity he has gained among pseudo-intellectuals. i liked post office and women immensely, and a few of his short stories are pretty good reading. its just his name has this coffee house coolness to it that i don’t subscribe to. its the fact any literary neophyte is more than willing to tell you that "Buke Rules!" and when you ask why, the answer is usually about tits or booze. it also has a lot to do with the rage i feel, when someone of marginal intellect can’t understand why i don’t REALLY like him. so i reiterate, it has nothing to do with the man or his work, some of which i’ve enjoyed, and more to do with the overzealous ramblings of the generation Y literati.
